This stylized prop depicts an old, abandoned popcorn machine, created as part of my diploma project. It is one of the elements of a post-apocalyptic, deserted amusement park environment. My goal was to evoke the atmosphere of once lively places that have now been left behind and forgotten.
The model was created in Maya, and the texturing was done in Substance Painter. I paid special attention to storytelling details such as broken glass, chipped paint, rust, and dust — all of which help convey the passage of time and the sense of decay.
During the modeling process, I focused on clean topology and preserving a classic silhouette. For texturing, I used a layered workflow with smart masks and hand-painted grunge to make each material (metal, wood, glass) feel authentically worn and aged.
